MCC Missions Monthly Memo

According to the International Orality Network (ION), 80% of the world's population (about 5.7 billion people!) are oral learners.

Oral learners are people from all over the globe, from all walks of life and all levels of education who learn primarily or exclusively through oral, not textual means.  Their lives are therefore more likely to be transformed through stories, songs, drama, proverbs, and media.

Discipleship without the written word is accomplished by reciting a memorized Bible story, then having others repeat the story and discuss questions about the story:

  1. What did you like about the story?
  2. What did you not like about the story?
  3. What hidden truth did you learn from this story?
  4. If you could be any character, who would you be or not be and why?
  5. What truth will you apply in your own life this week?

Try this method yourself when sharing with your friends and family!

Please PRAY:

  • that Christians everywhere have an opportunity to be discipled in their faith
  • for encouragement for leaders as they disciple others
  • that each of us lives out the truth of God's Word in our daily lives
