Pastor Ernie's Resignation Letter
Dear Friends and Family at Montclair Community Church,
I am writing you to deliver the news that as of July 12, I will be stepping down from my post as lead pastor of Montclair Community Church. I assure you that this was not an easy decision, but it is time for me to move on to the next steps in God’s plan for my life. This decision was not made on account of moral issues. Instead, Pilar and I have prayerfully concluded that the role of Lead Pastor is not conducive for our family, during this season. By God’s grace, He has kept my family and this church and continues to do so to this very day. However, after much consideration, prayer and travail, I have realized that my time at MCC should come to a close as I have accepted a role at another church.
Together, we have seen God do some tremendous things at Montclair Community Church. People from diverse walks of life have come to faith in Christ, grown in their spiritual journey, and have been baptized. In the past year and a half, we have implemented a new prayer ministry, revamped our approach to Sunday morning ministry, and significantly grown our mission's impact. God is good and should be continuously praised for all He has done!
While this is difficult news to share and receive, I hold firmly to the reality that God has many great things in store for me, my family and this, His Church. We can find hope in the words of the Apostle Paul as we look forward to the future. We serve a God who “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Eph. 3:20, NIV). This, again, is true of both His Church and His people. So, let us look forward with a sense of expectancy toward that which is next.
I recognize that a sudden change, like this, is difficult to process. However, I feel confident that I am leaving you in good hands. God has blessed MCC with a strong leadership team, elders and pastors. I will be available over the course of these next two weeks to meet with anyone who desires further conversation. Thank you for everything you have been and done for my family over our time here. We love you and pray for God’s best for each of you and the body of Christ at Montclair Community Church.
